A Few Words about Attorneys' Fees
In 1975, the United States House and Senate passed the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (aka "Mag-Moss"). One function of this act was to force manufacturers to write fair warranties (i.e., warranties that could actually lead to a consumer receiving a refund).
Another function of Mag-Moss was to allow a consumer to recover attorneys' fees after winning a lawsuit any time a manufacturer denied them a replacement or reimbursement after bringing a valid claim. This means that if you win a Lemon Law lawsuit, Detroit pays your lawyer for you. In Iowa, you can also receive up to triple the value of your vehicle.
The attorneys' fees are important because it's nearly impossible to receive fair treatment from Detroit without an attorney.
